Some of the most enjoyable and formative experiences over the course of my life have been in the company of beach formations like these, almost entirely on the west coast of Thetis Island. As a small child, they entranced me with their tide pools. As an older child, I snorkeled above them at high tide. As a teenager, I smoked dope and pondered their geological formation. They represent a fundamental texture in my development.
