I have long been preoccupied with surfaces and textures, particularly when a lot of distress, breakdown or patina is involved. This is at least partly due to my decades as a scenic painter and artist for the theatre; that experience taught me a lot about colour, texture, and lighting. Those lessons are now, happily, very relevant to what I'm trying to accomplish here.
